My name is Jim Monaghan, your host here on the Official Don McLean Forum. I have been a fan of Don McLean and his music since back in 1970 when I first heard him on a live radio broadcast from the A&R Recording Studios in New York City on WABC-FM.
The success of American Pie took this young singer-songwriter from local Westchester County (NY) to all over the world in a ridiculously short amount of time, thrusting him into a spotlight that was more than likely far beyond his wildest dreams.
Through my work on the radio in college at WFUV, later at New York's legendary WNEW-FM, and ultimately now at WDHA in New Jersey, I have been fortunate to meet Don on numerous occasions and get to know a little about the man. I hope to be able to share some of those experiences with you here on the Forum.
As this Forum continues to grow, it is my hope that fans from around the world will share their comments on various aspects of Don's career.
Thanks as always to Alan Howard of Don McLean Online for his continued support.
"I'll let the music take me where it wants to. It's never let me down." - Don McLean, 1972
